Talent identification in fencing

Our research on Iranian national team fencers and the fencers of other countries showed specific physical features which were associated with higher performance level. These are the kind of physical features that can be known as talent for fencers. These factors has also been mentioned in other studies, that can show their importance in fencing. However, its the nature of fencing where everyone with every type of physique can find their way in it. It must be mentioned that beside these factors, many other studies in different fields showed that passion, consistency and mental toughness are among the factors that have the main effect on the success. So beside these factors, if fencer can be physically talented as well, can help a lot in their fencing success.
